Dhul Hijjah What Should You Do |
Written by Dr. Houria Abdelrehem |
Peace and mercy and blessings of Allah be upon you.
The sun of Dhul-Qa‘dah has set…
And the blessed nights of Dhul-Hijjah have arrived upon us. 🌙
As Allah says:
“By the dawn, and by the ten nights.”
Allah swore by these nights — so how could we not honor and magnify them?
Within them is a day for which Allah forgives the sins of two years.
And within them are hours in which Allah multiplies righteous deeds — even beyond striving in His cause. 📌
So glorify Allah, seek His forgiveness, give charity, fast, pray — and increase in the takbir:
الله أكبر، الله أكبر، لا إله إلا الله، الله أكبر، الله أكبر، ولله الحمد.
“Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, there is no god but Allah. Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, and to Allah belongs all praise.”
O Allah, allow us to witness the best of these blessed days, and make us among those who honor Your sacred symbols.
May Allah accept our righteous deeds and yours, and comfort your hearts with His closeness
After Maghrib today begins the unrestricted Takbīr (التكبير المُطلق) for the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah.
And this is a prophetic glad tiding for everyone who proclaims Takbīr and Tahlīl:
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“No one proclaims the Tahlīl (saying: Lā ilāha illa Allah) except that he is given glad tidings, and no one proclaims the Takbīr except that he is given glad tidings.”
It was said: “O Messenger of Allah, glad tidings of Paradise?”
He ﷺ replied: “Yes.”
And the Prophet ﷺ said:
“There are no days greater in the sight of Allah, nor more beloved to Him for deeds done in them, than these ten days. So increase in them your Tahlīl, Takbīr, and Tahmīd.”
Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, there is no god but Allah.
Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, and all praise belongs to Allah.
The blessed seasons of mercy have arrived, and the greatest days of this world have shone upon us…
Days by which Allah swore an oath, elevated in honor, and made righteous deeds within them more beloved to Him than in all other days.
These are the ten blessed days in which the doors of nearness to Allah are opened, hearts are mended, slips are forgiven, and rewards are multiplied.
It is as though they are a message of mercy to everyone burdened by exhaustion and wearied by life:
“Come closer… for the door of Allah remains open.”
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days.”
So blessed is the one who seizes them with constant remembrance, unceasing supplication, hidden charity, Qur’an that revives the heart, and seeking forgiveness that erases what has burdened the soul.
O Allah, grant us during these ten days a share of tranquility that never fades, joy befitting Your generosity, supplications that are never rejected, and glad tidings that delight our hearts after long انتظار.
O Allah, rectify our affairs, expand our hearts with peace, bless our lives, families, and days, and decree for us goodness beyond what we hope for.
O Allah, make us among those who turn sincerely to You when these days arrive, and among the closest of Your servants when Your generosity overflows.
Grant us in these days a beautiful impact, a good remembrance, and hearts filled with You alone.
Pay attention:
After Maghrib this Sunday begins the night of Monday, which is the night of 1st Dhul-Hijjah.
I do not tell you: “Take advantage of the ten days starting tomorrow, Monday,”
rather, beginning from Sunday evening, seize every hour, minute, and second — by Allah, they are precious moments.
And the truly successful one is the one who takes advantage of these seasons of worship.
O Allah, do not make us among the heedless.
May Allah comfort your hearts with His nearness.
